LeBron James’ future remains in some doubt, but it appears the Los Angeles Lakers are planning on using a significant acquisition strategy to keep him in Southern California.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Lakers are “very willing to draft LeBron to help him realize his dream of playing alongside his son Bronny.” .

Bronny, 19, declared for the NBA Draft earlier this month despite suffering a cardiac arrest over the summer and the data not being on his side. He was still able to remain in school by going undrafted and also entered the transfer portal.

“In a perfect world, I hear the Lakers are interested in bringing back LeBron James and potentially drafting Bronny James,” Charania added on FanDuel TV. Tuesday’s “Run It Back”.

According to a reporter from The Athletic, the Lakers want James back with or without Bronny, but interestingly, James has until June 29th to opt out of his current contract with the Lakers. The NBA Draft will be held on June 26th and 27th, so in theory James could see where his son ends up and opt out, if any.

However, ESPN noted that James’ top priority is not necessarily playing alongside his son, but rather developing Bronny as a player.
