Baltimore Ravens Face Tough Time but Hope for Lamar Jackson’s Return

The Baltimore Ravens are struggling, having lost four consecutive games and holding a surprising 1-5 record as they approach their bye week. However, there is a silver lining on the horizon.

Head coach John Harbaugh announced after their loss to the Los Angeles Rams that quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has been sidelined for the last two games due to a hamstring injury, is set to return in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears. “We will have healthy players coming back,” Harbaugh mentioned. “Our quarterback is coming back.”

When asked directly if he was certain Jackson would return, Harbaugh admitted, “Are you sure? I say so, but I don’t know. Sometimes life is like that. You can’t predict everything. It’s still the future, but that’s the hope.”

The absence of Jackson has been significant; the Ravens’ offense managed only 13 points during his time out. Cooper Rush, who started in Jackson’s place, struggled in the last two games. On Sunday against the Rams, Harbaugh even turned to Tyler “Snoop” Huntley in search of a spark, but the results weren’t much different.

Overall, Rush completed just 72 yards with one interception, while Huntley went 10-of-15 for 68 yards and rushed for 39 yards. Having Jackson, a two-time MVP, back could be crucial for reviving the Ravens’ playoff ambitions. Despite the challenges ahead, players believe in Jackson’s impact. Running back Judge Hill emphasized, “Nobody can replace him. Obviously, having him back is going to be a huge jump for our offense.”

In four games this season before his injury, Jackson threw for 869 yards and 10 touchdowns, along with rushing for 166 yards and one touchdown. The Ravens’ hopes of turning around their season largely hinge on his return.
