The NBA All-Star break took a turn for the worse for LaMelo Ball, the standout guard for the Charlotte Hornets. On Wednesday, he was involved in a car crash while driving his custom Hummer in the city.
According to video footage, Ball was making a left turn when he collided with an oncoming gray sedan. The Hummer, which featured a camouflage wrap, spun slowly as the sedan remained visible in the frame. Both cars sustained noticeable damage.
In this accident, the Hummer lost its front driver’s side wheel, and the Kia sedan suffered significant damage to the front end. Thankfully, Ball exited the vehicle without apparent injuries, though there is no information about the condition of the sedan’s driver.
Ball stayed at the scene while both vehicles were towed away, and reportedly, someone in a Lamborghini picked him up shortly after.
Repairing the damage to Ball’s custom Hummer could become quite expensive. It’s worth mentioning that the vehicle was a special project by DreamWorks Motorsports, which included custom wheels with orange rims bearing the inscription “1 of 1.” The design mirrors his signature Puma basketball shoe. Ball has been often spotted driving this eye-catching vehicle around Charlotte since its completion.
After such incidents, a return to the body shop for repairs is usually necessary to restore the vehicle’s condition. The Hornets are scheduled to resume play against the Houston Rockets on Thursday, marking the beginning of the second half of the NBA season.
