Lane Kiffin’s Transition to LSU

A significant chapter in college football has reached its conclusion. Lane Kiffin, who was the head coach at Ole Miss for the past six years, took a flight to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday, marking the start of a new journey.

While various accounts have emerged from Kiffin, officials at Ole Miss, and players regarding the circumstances of his departure, a unique perspective has come from his family. Landry Kiffin, his daughter, captured her family’s trip to Baton Rouge for the introductory press conference in a TikTok video.

In the video, she shared a moment when her boyfriend, LSU linebacker Whit Weeks, met her mother, Leila Kiffin. “I’m heading to Baton Rouge for a press conference first, and then it’s off to New York,” Landry mentioned.

As she remarked, “New York in December? It’s my favorite trip of the year. Whit’s joining me this time—he’s never been there before, so it should be a blast.” Later in the clip, she highlighted their arrival at a hotel in New York City.

In another post, the couple visited the showroom of an athleisure brand based in the U.S. Kiffin also made an appearance in the video, posing for a snapshot with LSU President Dr. Wade Ruth and Athletics Director Virge Ausberry at Tiger Stadium.

Landry, a sophomore at Ole Miss, indicated that Weeks would also be making the trip to New York with her. Her sister, Knox Kiffin, aged 16, attended the press conference and was seen having lunch with her sister and Weeks.

Shortly after Lane announced his transition to LSU, Knox shared a heartfelt message on social media: “Thank you, Oxford,” along with a post that included a heart-hand emoji.

Landry has publicly supported her father’s decision to leave Ole Miss, even playfully responding to a critical fan on TikTok, saying, “I wish I could be as creative as angry football fans,” paired with a heart and hand emoji.

In response to Kiffin’s departure, Ole Miss elevated Pete Golding from defensive coordinator to head coach.
