Knox Kiffin Reflects on High School After Father’s Move to LSU
Sophomore quarterback Knox Kiffin, who will graduate in 2028, shared some memories from his time at Oxford High School in Michigan. This comes after his father, Lane Kiffin, recently became the new football coach at LSU, leaving Ole Miss behind.
In a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday, Knox, who is 16, expressed his gratitude towards Oxford, pairing his message with a touching on-field photo.
One of the pictures featured his older sister, Ole Miss sophomore Landry Kiffin, proudly holding a sign with Knox’s face during a game at Oxford University.
Landry’s boyfriend, Whit Weeks, a linebacker at LSU and considered one of the best in his position, also had something to say about the situation.
Knox’s announcement followed a playoff run where he played a key role for the Oxford Chargers. Unfortunately, they fell short, losing 21-20 to Tupelo in the Mississippi State 7A semifinals, which meant no state championship opportunity next week.
In that game, Knox made significant contributions, throwing three touchdowns in the first half.
On Instagram, he reshared a Carousel Post from Sports Center, including past comments where he declared he had no intention of playing for his father. Recently, Knox mentioned his top three school preferences as Oregon State, Florida State, and LSU, though he expressed a strong affection for Texas as well.
Meanwhile, Lane Kiffin, who has led the Rebels to three straight 10-win seasons, will not finish the season coaching his team as they participate in the College Football Playoff. He will begin his new role at LSU immediately.
This transition was so significant that it unfolded over the weekend, following the Rebels’ victory against Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl.
As he departed Oxford, Kiffin faced some boos from the crowd. He stated that his decision was one he had contemplated and made with his family.
