LAPD detains 2 near Kamala Harris’ California home in Palisades Fire evac zone

According to local reports, Los Angeles police responded early Sunday morning to a call of a possible robbery at Vice President Harris' home in Brentwood, California, which is within the Palisades fire evacuation zone.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed To KTLA Police said they detained two people at Harris' home while a curfew was in effect from 6pm to 6am local time.

According to KTLA, a call about a possible robbery at Harris' property on Bundy Drive north of Sunset Drive came into the West Los Angeles station around 4:40 a.m., according to KTLA. Officers responded to the scene and found two men at the scene.

Los Angeles Police Department initially detained the two for violating curfew, but later released them, reporting that there was no evidence to suggest a crime had been committed, according to KTLA.

KNBC reported They claimed they were not on Harris' property when they were taken into custody and there was no sign of them entering the vice president's property.

“They probably had no idea where they were,” one law enforcement source told KNBC.

It is unclear why the two were in the area near Harris' property or whether the matter will be investigated further.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department for comment early Sunday, but did not immediately receive a response.

KNBC reports that Harris' home is being guarded by the U.S. Secret Service with assistance from the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles Police Department's Metropolitan Dignitary Protection Unit.

On Saturday, with strong winds expected again, the Palisades Fire moved toward Brentwood, complicating the response. The Palisades Fire is 11% contained and has burned 23,707 acres, according to the latest information from CAL Fire.

As of Sunday morning, the Los Angeles County coroner reported that the death toll from California's wildfires had reached at least 16 people, including the five who died in the Palisades fire.
