As Republicans continued their personal attacks on the Democratic presidential nominee, Republican National Committee Co-Chair Lara Trump on Monday mocked Vice President Harris by comparing her to a designer handbag that looks like a garbage bag.
In an interview with Fox News, the former president’s daughter-in-law, Trump, argued that Democrats were selling Harris to the public as a commodity.
“I can’t believe the way they’re trying to promote Kamala Harris and sell her as a great politician,” Trump said. “I remember a few years ago, a very famous designer designed a bag that was literally a garbage bag, and they sold it for $2,000 because they thought people would actually buy it. It’s a similar situation with Kamala Harris.”

After President Biden gave up on reelection, Democrats have quickly rallied around Harris, while Republicans have stepped up personal attacks, focusing on her race and gender.

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R), a leading voice in the moderate Republican Party, called on former President Trump and the Republican Party to refrain from personal attacks on Sunday and focus on the campaign issues as the election heats up.
Sununu said Trump should “refrain from making derogatory remarks” when discussing Harris.
He said Trump missed that opportunity in his recent campaign but “hopefully he can get back on track. I think he was on track for a few months. I think the changes in the campaign have personally motivated me to take on Trump.”
But the governor also acknowledged that “nobody can make Donald Trump do anything, but I hope that the numbers, the polls, will help him realize what’s worked and what’s not worked.”
