Larry David says he asked Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson to remove goalposts from UFL

The XFL and USFL are merging to form the new United Football League (UFL), which is scheduled to begin later this month. But apparently Larry David doesn’t like goal posts on soccer fields.

The actor and comedian has a suggestion for the UFL as the season opener approaches. During a recent appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show,” David said he reached out to UFL co-owner Dwayne Johnson to convince him to remove the goalposts from competitive surfaces league-wide.

“When I heard about this UFL thing, I thought, ‘Let’s talk to someone at the UFL,'” Larry said. “So, my agent put me on the phone with Dwayne Johnson. He called me and we had a conversation. He didn’t know what I was asking, but he kindly called me back. He called me.”

The Rock jokingly addressed the situation to X, saying they had a “lively and very productive conversation” about David’s discomfort with goalposts and field goal kicks.

“I didn’t know that extra point was already in the XFL. . . There was no extra point from kicks,” David told Eisen. The XFL’s extra point rules will carry over to the UFL.

XFL rules did not allow teams to kick extra points after scoring a touchdown. The scoring team must instead decide to run a play that allows him to add 1, 2, or 3 points to the score.

If a team crosses the goal line from the 2-yard line, 1 point is added to the score, scoring from the 5-yard line adds 3 points, and scoring from the 10-yard line adds 3 points to the scoreboard . -Yard line.

In the NFL, a team can choose to kick for an extra point or line up near the goal line and run a play from scrimmage to attempt a two-point conversion after a touchdown.

Although David admitted he didn’t know, the XFL’s extra points rule will carry over into the new league.

David previously said on Eisen’s show that if he were appointed NFL commissioner for one day, the first thing he would do would be to remove the goalposts.

The Arlington Renegades will host the Birmingham Stallions, while the St. Louis Battlehawks and Michigan Panthers will open the UFL’s inaugural season on March 30th.
