Larry David was feeling very, very good as he sat courtside during the Knicks’ 120-109 victory over the Kings on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star was seated next to fellow castmate Susie Essman just three days before the show’s series finale, scheduled to air Sunday night.
When David was shown on the MSG video board, he made a strange heart gesture with his hands, while Esman, who plays the manager’s wife on the HBO series, looked on at David’s overall goofiness. He waved at the camera and started laughing.
“Curve” aired for 12 seasons and became part of the pop culture zeitgeist, further increasing critical acclaim for David, who also helped create the 1990s hit “Seinfeld.”
David is a huge fan of the Knicks and their fellow Gardensweller Rangers, and he incorporated that into a recent episode of the show that aired on Sunday.
“You want to talk about the Rangers…” David says in the episode. “How’s Breadman doing?” [Artemin Panarin] Are you playing the wing and controlling the puck? It’s really amazing, isn’t it? ”
Despite David’s deep passion for the New York team, he didn’t seem to have the same fun over the weekend at the men’s basketball NCAA tournament in Boston.
Some videos and images on social media from UW’s win over the University of Illinois seem to show that the funny man wasn’t enjoying his night at TD Garden very much, and David, who previously appeared on “Rich・Madness admitted on “The Eisen Show” that he wasn’t a big fan of March.
“How far can I keep up in sports in this tournament?” he said. “You’re supposed to know who’s on Drake, right? I mean, this is crazy, crazy. Valparaiso? Do you know the name Valparaiso? This is insane. I don’t know anything. I might watch the semifinals. But that’s it. What can I do? I have the Rangers, I have the Knicks. I can’t follow all these teams. How do people do it? How do they do it? “
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” series finale airs Sundays at 10pm ET on HBO and Max.
