Las Vegas Double Murder: Ex-Husband Allegedly Leaves Custody Papers

A disturbing incident unfolded in Las Vegas when a man, Alejandro Estrada, 43, allegedly broke into a grocery store and fatally shot his ex-wife, Amanda Frias Rosa, and her new husband. According to police reports, Estrada left child custody documents at the scene, seemingly to indicate his motive for the crime.

Detective Brandon Copley testified in court that Estrada initially claimed he shot the victims two to four times. Afterward, he reportedly dropped his backpack to grab a red folder with the custody papers, shoving it under his ex-wife’s arm.

Details from the investigation revealed that Estrada was under significant financial stress, primarily due to overdue child support payments amounting to over $2,800 for two children, ages 12 and 9. Notably, neither child was present during the shooting.

“He mentioned he made the arrangements a week or two before the incident,” Copley said. Estrada reportedly acknowledged that he understood killing was wrong but felt justified due to Amanda’s efforts for financial support for their children.

A grand jury has since indicted him on 13 felony counts, including two murder charges and multiple firearm-related offenses. Testimony from Estrada’s roommate, Noel Hernandez, highlighted Estrada’s animosity towards Rosas, attributing it to unpaid child support that had affected his mortgage plans.

The tragedy occurred on May 12, when Estrada allegedly entered the Smith’s Grocery Store armed with multiple weapons and shot the couple, who married in 2025. Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene where several bystanders tackled Estrada until authorities arrived.

Amanda and Victor Frias Rosas were pronounced dead at the scene. One witness, Paula Milton, noted Estrada’s unsettling calmness during the incident, stating, “He had no expression on his face. It didn’t seem like a big deal to him.”
