The Dallas Wings added another player to their roster after busy summer free agency Guard McKenzie Forbes.
Forbes is an elite three-point shooter game, and its college career includes stints at UC Berkeley, Harvard and USC. In his graduation season at USC, Forbes led his team to the Pac-12 tournament championship, scoring 26 points in the title game. That season, she averaged a career-high 14.3 points, shooting 3-37.4%. She also averaged a career-high 3.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game.
She was drafted, but she was eventually abandoned by a spark at the end of training camp, and then played professionally in Australia and New Zealand. She currently plays for Athletes Unlimited, a professional women's basketball in Nashville, Tennessee. The AU maintains the player's leaderboard and determines individual champions after five weeks of season. Forbes Currently ranked 25th Of 40 participating players.
What Mackenzie Forbes brings to the wings of Dallas
For Forbes, the signing is a reunion with two important figures from her past: Kurt Miller and Chris Cochran, the Sparks head coach last season and now general managers of the Wings. Koclanes is Wings' newly hired head coach and was an assistant at USC last year when Forbes played the best basketball of her career. Koclanes, who worked under the mirror for eight years WNBAHe was the position coach for USC Forbes.
The training camp agreement does not guarantee that she will win a spot on the Wings roster. However, the 6'0 guard/forward gets the opportunity to compete for one under the leadership of two individuals who are familiar with her game. Forbes produces potentially solid role player stretches. And she could contribute to the improved roster.
The Wings lost several key players this offseason. Jacee Sheldon was also traded for the Connecticut Sun.
Instead of them, the wings were Dihonai Carrington, Ty Harris, and Narissa Smith Signature via trade Myisha Hines-Allen With a free agency. They also have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Franchise player Arike Ogunbowale is back for another season. In Dallas, it becomes a difficult battle to get the deal and ultimately get the minutes, but it certainly helps that she has Cochran and Miller running the show.
