Tyler Boebert Faces Possible Jail Time After Plea Deal
Tyler Boebert, the son of Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, could face prison time following a plea deal related to a child abuse case. Reports indicate that Tyler, aged 21, is set to plead guilty to charges of child abuse and negligence without injury. This plea could lead to a sentence of up to 30 days in jail along with a year of supervised probation, as noted by the Weld County District Attorney’s Office in Colorado.
Additionally, court documents state that Tyler, who is a young father, will need to enroll in a parenting program as part of his sentence.
His court appearance is scheduled for August 19 in Garfield County Court. Earlier this year, Tyler was charged after his two-year-old son was discovered wandering outside his mother’s home. Lauren Boebert has commented on the situation, suggesting that the incident stemmed from a “lapse in supervision” regarding her grandchild.
In a separate legal matter, Tyler was arrested last Sunday in Colorado on charges including child sexual exploitation. These charges reportedly arise from allegations that he filmed a sexual encounter with his then-17-year-old girlfriend. Complaints were made to the police after the video was shared without consent.
In response to her son’s troubles, Rep. Boebert expressed her love for him in a statement, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations. She noted that “we take these allegations very seriously and we will be praying for everyone affected during this difficult time.”
Tyler Boebert was released after posting a $10,000 bail. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first encounter he has had with the law. In 2024, he faced 22 criminal charges, five of which were felonies, primarily related to theft. However, he took a plea deal that led to a guilty plea for attempted identity theft, receiving a two-year deferred sentence and completing 80 hours of community service.
