Reports indicate that former high school teacher McKenna Kindred is still married and has moved into a new home with her lawyer husband, almost two years after she confessed to having an affair with a 17-year-old student.
McKenna, who once taught at Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley, Washington, admitted to sneaking the student into her home for sexual encounters while her husband, Kyle Kindred, was away on a hunting trip in March 2024.
Despite the infidelity, Kyle chose to support McKenna, opting not to divorce her. They even relocated to a new home together in Idaho, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Previously, the couple had been living in a $1 million house in rural south Spokane, which was under Kyle’s parents’ name. However, they acquired a new property in Kuna, Idaho, for $498,000 in June 2024, just a few months after McKenna tearfully pleaded guilty to sex-related offenses in court.
This new home boasts four bedrooms and spans 2,636 square feet, situated in a serene neighborhood not too far from Boise. Since August 2024, Kyle has been working as a real estate attorney at Holland & Hart.
His online profile describes him as someone who enjoys outdoor activities, fly fishing, and college basketball.
It remains unclear if McKenna has found employment since resigning from teaching. Following an investigation by the Idaho State Board of Standards regarding her teaching license, she decided to surrender it voluntarily.
Prosecutors revealed that the inappropriate relationship began in June 2022, when the student stumbled upon her Instagram and they started messaging each other.
In November of that same year, McKenna, then 23, and the student engaged in sexual activity in her home while her husband was away.
Rumors about the relationship began to circulate around December 2022 when friends of the student shared explicit screenshots with school officials.
One message read, “I wanted you to come to my room,” while another expressed her jealousy over the student being talked about in class.
During an investigation, the boy confirmed their encounters and admitted to exchanging explicit videos. McKenna, visibly distraught, apologized to the victims and their families in court.
In her statement, she reflected on the consequences of her actions, stating, “I lost my career, valuable friendships, freedom, and let down countless people who placed their trust in me.”
Ultimately, she received two years of probation, was ordered to pay $700 in fines and fees, and must register as a sex offender for a decade.
