After four years of inflation, border turmoil, and weakness on the world stage, the United States is turning the page. President Trump's inauguration will usher in a new era focused on America's strengths: a strong economy, strong borders, and a strong military.

I look forward to the President taking immediate action to secure our borders and reverse Biden administration policies that threaten our energy security. And Republicans in Congress will work tirelessly to expand his efforts.

We are already hard at work on legislation that will accomplish two of our biggest priorities: providing the resources needed to secure our border and extending the tax cuts passed by Republicans during the first Trump administration. I'm here.

The Senate took its first steps on border security last week, considering the Laken-Reilly Act. The law ensures that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detain illegal immigrants who steal, assault law enforcement officers, kill or seriously injure others. That they are allowed to go out on the street.

Introducing Leader John Thune's all-star cabinet as Republicans hold majority in the Senate

We aim to pass this bill in the Senate on Monday and send it to the President's desk shortly thereafter. Congressional Republicans also plan to invoke the Congressional Review Act to roll back the Biden administration's burdensome regulations.

Voters handed President Trump a decisive victory in November. And now the real work begins: carrying out the mission given to them.

The Senate is also working hard to ensure President Trump has the team he needs. The Senate committee has so far held hearings for 12 of President Trump's nominees, with more scheduled.

Last Wednesday, our committee held six cabinet confirmation hearings in one day. This is the most cabinet confirmation hearings in a single day since 2001. Once the nominee leaves the committee, we will quickly schedule a confirmation vote on the Senate floor. The goal is to form a full presidential cabinet as soon as possible.

It will be a new day in the Washington executive branch. President Trump's nominees will be focused on work, not staying awake. Gone are the days when executive branch agencies targeted conservative Americans, promoted extreme social policies, and promoted the social and environmental fantasies of the far left.

How refreshing it would be to have an administration focused on reducing regulatory burdens, promoting a strong economy, and strengthening our military. The Trump administration and Congressional Republicans will also focus on improving government efficiency. If we find a way to eliminate waste or save taxpayers money, we will adopt it.

I don't think it's a coincidence that there has been a renewed sense of optimism since November. President Trump's faith in our country and our people is contagious. He reminds us that anything is possible in America, and that while we may have had a tough four years under the Biden administration, we have everything we need to come back stronger. .

I am confident that with President Trump's leadership and the Republican Party working together, we can spend the next four years building a stronger, more prosperous America and a bright new future for the American people.
