LeBron and Bronny James Make NBA History as First Father-Son Duo to Share the Court

LeBron James and his son Bronny James made history Tuesday night as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game.

The James duo first appeared in a game together late in the second quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers' season opener. During this historic moment, the two received a standing ovation from Lakers fans who rocked Crypto.com Arena.

“In that moment, we were at the scorer's table together, checking in together. It's a moment I'll never forget,” LeBron said. “No matter how old I get, no matter how old my memory fades, I will never forget that moment.”

LeBron, 39, has played 22 seasons in the NBA. He has previously stated that playing with his son is one of his long-time goals. His dream became a reality when Bronny dropped out of the University of Southern California after just one season and entered the NBA draft. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in '55.th overall selection.

“I talked about it years ago, but it's pretty cool for this moment to come,” LeBron said. “For a little while, I don't know if it's really going to affect the both of us, but once you actually sit back and accept it, it's pretty crazy. …But for now, check in We still had work to do when we did it. We weren't trying to make it a circus. We weren't trying to make it about ourselves. We wanted to make it about the team,” LeBron continued.

With the Lakers holding a sizable lead, the James duo was able to play together for just over two minutes before Bronny came off the bench.

Bronny did not reappear in the game following his first appearance, which the Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 110-103.

“[I] I tried to focus on everything that was going on around me, and I tried to focus on not coming in as a rookie and making mistakes,” Bronny said. “But I definitely felt the energy and I'm grateful to Lakers Nation for showing their support for me and my dad.”

Bronny finished the night scoreless on two shot attempts and also added one rebound. His father had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists that night.

“It's always been a family thing through everything. I've lost a lot of time and been away from time to time and missed out on a lot because of this league and my commitment to this league.
