LeBron James may not like to be called “dad” on the court, but that doesn't mean he won't impart some wisdom to his NBA-playing son.
LeBron and Bronny James made history in Los Angeles on Tuesday night as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game, with the 20-year-old James holding his own before checking into the Lakers for the first time at Crypto.com Arena. 's father said a few words to him.
“You see the intensity, right?” LeBron asked, and Bronny responded in the affirmative, as captured on TNT.
“But play it easy,” LeBron said. “Don't worry about mistakes and play with all your heart.”
Bronny checked into his first game of the regular season with four minutes left in the second quarter, and his father returned to join him.
“Tonight we made history as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game,” play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle said on TNT. “This is by the whole family and what a celebration for the James family.”
Bronny played three minutes in his first go-around in the NBA, but missed two field goals.

Prior to the lawsuit, the James family met with another famous and historic sports family.
The two played together for the Seattle Mariners in 1990 and befriended baseball legends Ken Griffey Sr. and Jr., who left their mark on history.
Twenty-one years after LeBron stepped on the court for the Cavaliers for his NBA debut, he was able to play alongside his son professionally for the first time.
