LeBron James' new YouTube golf channel surges with surprising figures

LeBron James Surges in Golf Content Creation

LeBron James, already a titan on social media with over 231 million followers, is now diving into the world of golf content creation. In less than three days since launching his new product—his YouTube golf channel—he’s surged past 500,000 subscribers, all thanks to a single, lengthy video.

That’s right, just one video.

His inaugural feature, titled “2016 Cavs 10 Year Alumni Golf Scramble,” was filmed on a picturesque course in Scotland and has already garnered over 2 million views since its debut on Saturday. This move has thrust James into the expanding realm of YouTube golf content.

In the video, he reconnects with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammates, including Kevin Love, J.R. Smith, Richard Jefferson, Tristan Thompson, and Channing Frye, for a laid-back three-on-three golf match. The camaraderie from their championship days is palpable, even as they swap the basketball court for sweeping fairways and engage in plenty of friendly banter.

James first made the announcement about his golf channel on X, where it received more than 3.2 million likes. It seems fans are excited about this new venture.

So, could we say he’s the King James of content creation?

He’s undeniably mastered basketball over his 23 seasons, amassing multiple championships and breaking records. But now, he’s entering a fast-growing YouTube golf scene, one that’s currently dominated by names like Rick Shields, who has over 3 million subscribers, and PGA Tour pro Bryson DeChambeau, with around 2.8 million. At this pace, it might not be long before James is on their heels or even surpassing them.

Interestingly, despite being new to golf—having only picked it up last summer after being encouraged by Lakers teammate Austin Reeves—LeBron isn’t doing it half-heartedly. His enthusiasm has escalated rapidly. In April, he even mentioned that he would love to play with his sons, Bronny and Bryce.

He has promised fans glimpses of his travels to some of the world’s finest golf courses, complete with local cuisine, wine, and, of course, lots of laughs.

Michael Jordan famously made golf a focal point of his post-NBA journey. Perhaps we’re witnessing the early stages of LeBron building a media empire of his own before he steps away from professional play.
