LeBron James’ impending free agency continues to capture significant attention in the sports world.
The 41-year-old has shared a timeline for his decision, although it’s somewhat vague.
“We won’t keep you waiting much longer,” he mentioned Thursday during Fanatics Fest in New York.
It’s hard to say just how soon that will be. Honestly, it could be any day now—hours, days, or even a few weeks—before he makes a decision that will have the entire league on edge.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver acknowledged the delay in releasing the league’s schedule due to James’ free agency situation.
“We need to finalize the schedule, and LeBron’s decision will affect it… especially for the opening week and Christmas. His choice is going to play a big role in how we build the schedule, so we’ll have to let him decide,” Silver stated.
Meanwhile, James has taken time this summer to weigh his options.
Four teams have consistently come up in discussions regarding James: the Cavaliers, Heat, 76ers, and Warriors. While it seemed like the Warriors were out of the running, recent rumors suggest a shift, making them a contender once more.
Even after 23 seasons in the NBA, James still stands out as one of the league’s biggest names. Silver’s hesitation to unveil the schedule before James signs underscores his influence.
As for the weekend, reports suggest that James likely won’t be announcing anything, but we could expect to hear from him as soon as next week.
