Lee Strobel Argues That Miracles Are Still Occurring – and Presents the Proof

Lee Strobel Explores Miracles in New Film

Lee Strobel, a well-known author and investigative journalist, asserts that genuine miracles exist in the world, and he aims to demonstrate this in his latest film. The film presents the journey of an atheist who becomes a Christian, interviewing various witnesses and experts, examining evidence, and delving into claims that seem impossible. It’s being distributed by Fathom Entertainment.

This movie is inspired by Strobel’s book of the same name and directed by Mani Sandoval, who was also behind Strobel’s earlier documentaries. One of the compelling stories highlighted in the film concerns a woman who experiences a miraculous cure from blindness. She had been visually impaired for over twelve years due to a disease deemed incurable.

Strobel recounts how she attended a school for the blind, learned Braille, and used a white cane to navigate. One evening, her husband felt strongly compelled to pray for her healing while she was already in bed. As he placed his hand on her shoulder, she became emotional and began to pray. He asked God for her healing that very night. Miraculously, she opened her eyes to see him for the first time, claiming to have perfect eyesight that persisted for the next fifty years. The incident was investigated by multiple medical researchers and published in a reputable medical journal.

Strobel argues that there’s no natural explanation for such an event, especially since it involved an incurable condition known as juvenile macular degeneration. He references a Barna study indicating that 38 percent of Americans believe they have encountered miracles in their lives. Even if we were to dismiss 99 percent of those claims as mere coincidences, it would still leave a significant number of miracles reported across the country.

He describes a miracle as “an event brought about by the power of God as a temporary exception to the normal course of nature, meant to show that God has acted in history.” Strobel suggests that miracles not only strengthen our faith but also direct us toward God. He hopes that his films resonate similarly with audiences.

“I want Christians to leave feeling a deeper love for God and a firmer grip on their faith. But I also hope they reach out to friends who might be skeptical or curious about spirituality, inviting them to see the movie,” he expresses.
