Lee Zeldin appears before the House to discuss the EPA’s budget proposal

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Lee Zeldin is set to testify before the House Budget Subcommittee about the agency’s budget request for 2026, on Thursday morning.

Since his confirmation, Zeldin has backed President Trump’s efforts to roll back Biden-era climate policies and reduce spending at the EPA. The administration is pushing for increased funding aimed at “critical drinking water.” Additionally, on Wednesday, the EPA announced plans to ease federal restrictions on what it labels “eternal chemicals.”

This hearing occurs amid ongoing efforts from House Republicans to push forward Trump’s agenda, emphasizing a reduction in various green programs and regulations while bolstering fossil fuel initiatives.

The hearing is scheduled for 10 am EDT.
