Left-Wing Protesters Set Fire to Amazon and Telecom Company Vans in Berlin

Investigations are underway by both left and right groups following claims from specialized police regarding the destruction of numerous Amazon and Deutsche Telekom trucks in Berlin this week.

Early Tuesday morning, around 100 firefighters responded to a blaze in the neighborhoods of Lichtenberg and Britt, managing to control the flames that engulfed multiple commercial vehicles, as reported by City newspaper BZ.

The fires, which broke out almost simultaneously at two different sites several miles apart, were already fully involved by the time they were detected. In total, 19 Amazon delivery vans and 17 Deutsche Telekom vehicles were completely destroyed, while flames damaged an additional five vehicles in the complex.

Interestingly, this incident coincided with Amazon’s celebration of its new headquarters in Berlin, which is the tallest office building in the city and employs about 3,000 people.

National Security Services are viewing the fire as potentially politically motivated, linking it to a series of similar attacks in Berlin.

Just a week prior, on Tuesday morning, 23 Amazon delivery vans were set ablaze in Brandenburg, Germany. Notably, only weeks before May Day, another 16 Amazon vans were burned in Berlin’s Whitenau neighborhood.

Hours following the fire, a letter appeared on the notorious leftist message board “Indinedia,” taking responsibility for the acts and labeling both Amazon and Deutsche Telekom as legitimate targets due to their alleged involvement with Israeli and German state agencies.

The unsigned, “anti-Parliamentary” statement suggested that both companies profit from global militarization and conflicts, claiming that Amazon’s cloud services are used by the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) for data storage associated with the surveillance of Palestinians.

As for Deutsche Telekom, the letter indicated they serve as “suppliers to border authorities, police, and intelligence agencies.” They also criticized the collaboration with Elon Musk’s Starlink, asserting that Starlink supports military actions, particularly against Ukraine and Israel.

The group urged others to join their cause against war, “fascism,” and imperialism, advocating for further attacks on infrastructure they believe contributes to these issues.

Despite lacking extensive commentary, the recent attacks on Amazon and Deutsche Telekom reflect a broader effort by radical left factions to disrupt systems that enable modern urban life throughout Europe. Professor David Betts remarked on where such tactics may lead, emphasizing that while these acts are currently minute, they could represent a strategy aimed at causing chaos within the system.

…These attacks are small now, but indicative of tactics… system disruption. The underlying premise is that by targeting infrastructure, one could undermine systems and ultimately destabilize cities.

…Hypothetically, such incidents could occur more frequently than every few weeks. An attack could knock out power or gas supply, particularly in winter…

This encapsulates a deliberate strategic approach aimed at creating a specific effect—rather than public protests, shutting down urban support systems can be achieved by just a few individuals.

In 2024, for instance, leftist activists obstructed railway lines around Paris:

Interestingly, Breitbart News reported in 2022 on comparable attacks in Germany, where communication cables for railway systems were deliberately severed, showcasing a sophisticated understanding of railway infrastructure aimed at inducing anxiety and eroding public trust.

These “pinpoint attacks” serve to destabilize confidence in everyday systems, frequently targeting transit routes. For example, a similar incident occurred in Italy in 2019 when cables for high-speed rail went down, seemingly timed with legal proceedings regarding a group of radicals.

In 2019, a radio transmitter was destroyed in France. The following year, 50,000 residents in Greater Paris experienced internet outages due to cable damage, which appeared to culminate a week-long campaign against information infrastructure.

In 2021, coordinated attacks on phone and internet services involved sabotage of vehicles, fiber optic disconnects, and destruction of communication towers. The left downplayed it, stating that their actions weren’t solely motivated by opposition to 5G, but rather an ongoing battle against technological overreach.

In early 2022, the far-left was suspected of targeting power plants and multiple power lines, leaving significant areas in darkness. Shortly after, some French locales lost internet access when data lines were cut simultaneously. Such sabotage demonstrated a tactical understanding of the networks involved.
