Far-left extremists have claimed responsibility for threatening Dutch populist leader Geert Wilders with a death threat using a portrait of the leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV) hanging from a noose.
Mr Wilders, who has been under protection for the past 20 years over fears of Islamist violence and is used to attempts on his life, shared an apparent threat from so-called anti-fascists in the Dutch city of Dokkum last week. .
photograph published An Indymedia platform aligned with Antifa appeared to feature a portrait of the PVV brand, wearing a T-shirt with the party's initials, a blonde wig, and a noose around his neck.

“Gert Wilders' PVV is a modern-day fascist and undemocratic party that must be fought tooth and nail. There is no place for fascists in this world, in politics or in society,” the statement added.

It happened exactly 20 years later. . Since then, Wilders and his wife have been protected 24 hours a day, living in a series of safe homes.
