New Video Emerges of Incident Involving Alex Preti Prior to Fatal Shooting
A recently released video seems to depict Alex Preti spitting at federal agents and causing damage to a government vehicle just days before he was shot and killed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents in Minneapolis. Legal analyst Greg Jarrett from Fox News described the footage as indicative of Preti’s state of mind leading up to his death.
According to Jarrett, “He was an angry individual who displayed his anger through violence.” He pointed out that spitting on an officer qualifies as assault, while kicking a federal vehicle demonstrates a level of aggression and resistance to arrest. “That conveys quite a bit about his mindset,” he remarked during an appearance on the show “Hannity.”
The footage, reportedly recorded on January 13 and made public by News Movement on Wednesday, features Preti dressed in similar attire to what he wore when he was fatally shot. The man is seen yelling and spitting at federal officers before damaging a taillight on a federal SUV.
Noem Expresses Condolences Following Shooting Incident
Preti repeatedly shouted expletives, raised his middle fingers, and confronted an agent who approached him, leading to him being taken to the ground. Subsequently, Preti’s family confirmed his identity in a video shared with the Minnesota Star Tribune.
A few days later, another video emerged showing Preti trying to help a woman who had fallen to the ground, which eventually led to his being shot by Border Patrol agents during a targeted operation in Minneapolis.
Contradictory Accounts and Ongoing Investigations
Jarrett noted, “Customs and Border Protection were trying to dispel the demonstrators. He got involved and resisted arrest, engaging in multiple criminal activities.” While he acknowledged the tragedy of Preti losing his life, he suggested that a misinterpretation of the situation might have led to a flawed act of self-defense.
Meanwhile, Preti’s family attorney, Steve Schleicher, argued that a week prior to the shooting, Preti had been assaulted by ICE agents, asserting that he posed no threat at that time. “Nothing that occurred a full week earlier could have warranted Alex’s murder by ICE on January 24th,” he stated.
The ongoing investigation surrounding the incident continues to raise questions about the events leading up to Preti’s death.
