Steve McMichael, one of the greatest and most memorable players from the Bears’ legendary 1985 defense, passed away at the age of 67.
Jarrett Payton, son of fellow Bears legendary Walter Payton, and the man who presented McMichael for his Hall of Fame, announced Wednesday.
McMichael won the Super Bowl Championship and had a long Hall of Fame career, but his beginnings were unlucky. The New England Patriots chose him in the third round of the 1980 NFL Draft, but Pat cut him the following year. The Bears signed him before the start of the 1981 season, and McMichael played for Chicago for the next 12 years.

The pinnacle of McMicchelle’s success with the Bears came when he revenges in 1985 with a team that cut him by stomping Chicago at Super Bowl XX.
