Just because someone is out of touch with reality doesn’t mean they’re not being targeted.
New York Attorney General Letitia James addressed a crowd, asserting that she was acting on the orders of President Trump. There are now reports suggesting that the Justice Department has initiated a criminal probe into allegations of mortgage fraud against her.
“They were outside my house, taking photos while I was at church last Sunday. These individuals were streaming live from in front of my home,” she recounted during a rally on May 3rd, held at the National Action Network Headquarters led by Pastor Al Sharpton in Harlem.
James described this as part of a “revenge tour,” claiming it’s simply vengeance from someone who is upset after a $454 million judgment against him and his businesses. She attended the rally to support City Council Chairman Adrian Adams’ candidacy for mayor.
James, after orchestrating a civil fraud trial that resulted in a significant judgment against Trump and his organization, didn’t clarify whether she believes there’s surveillance happening at her Brooklyn residence or at her property in Norfolk, Virginia.
Both the DOJ and the White House chose not to comment on her statements.
Through a spokesperson, she did not elaborate on the specific social media content she referred to in her remarks.
In response to the investigation, which stems from an inquiry by Federal Housing and Finance Director William Prute—a Trump appointee—it’s alleged that James falsified documents to qualify for better loan terms.
Reports indicate she misrepresented unit counts in her Brooklyn properties and inaccurately claimed that her Norfolk house was her primary residence.
James’ lawyer, Abbe David Lowell, dismissed these accusations as “baseless and politically motivated.” He noted that these claims seem to reflect a desire for political retaliation, suggesting President Trump had alluded to such actions previously. Lowell asserted readiness to provide factual evidence against what they see as false allegations.
Political consultant Hank Syenkop remarked on her recent comments, suggesting they indicate her preparedness for both political and legal defenses and show her dedication to warning her supporters.
According to a report, the Justice Department has commenced a criminal investigation related to the mortgage fraud claims against James.
