Let’s establish a Border Protection Unit so Texas can defend itself

It was a routine highway stop for a minor moving violation in North Texas’ Young County. As the deputy approached the car, he was greeted with silence by the three adults in front of him, who spoke only Romanian and no English. In the back of the car were three young Hispanic children, an infant, and a Hispanic woman, who also did not speak English. They were clearly victims of human trafficking.

The agents called Immigration and Customs Enforcement, but were told ICE would not assist or intervene. Deputies were forced to release the children because there was no solid evidence of a detainable crime and they did not have the authority to remove the children from their “guardians.” Travis Babcock, a young county sheriff, told me that story when I asked him at his campaign event how he was feeling the effects of the Biden administration’s intentional border crisis. . The sheriff says these kinds of encounters happen every day in his county’s sleepy small towns.

By privileging immigrants over Texans, we are slowly turning Texas into the Third World.

Those of us who don’t work in law enforcement are seeing similar signs of disruption. Our teachers are being asked to accommodate an increasing number of non-English speakers in the classroom. Our medical professionals must admit and treat thousands of illegal aliens in emergency rooms. The more taxed our systems are, the worse things will be for us. And in Denton, where I live, locals wonder why our laws prioritize people crossing the border over Americans.

Seeing the devastation caused by open borders fueled my desire to run for office. I have been as tough as possible with every candidate on stopping illegal border crossings, stopping mass immigration, and deporting people. One by one Who is in this state, this country illegally? That’s what the law already requires, that’s what I’m doing, and I have plans to do that.

Past initiatives suffered from poor execution

Our state has multiple world-class law enforcement agencies. But they are pushed to their limits, dealing with criminal elements from every third world country on the planet, living outside the law right here in our neighborhoods.

My own brother was a state trooper and participated in Operation Lone Star. He said the 2021 Texas Border Security Initiative was well-intentioned, but was not adequately resourced or implemented in a way that would actually secure the border.

Operation Lone Star required my brother to leave his community for a set number of days each month and sit in a police car in one of the southern border towns. He waited until he found the illegal border crosser, detained him, recorded his interactions, drove him to a gas station, and released him. There were no other custody options.

“I don’t know what we’re doing or why we’re doing it,” he told me. “I’m exhausted by this extra work, but if it actually protects Texans from a flood of illegal aliens, I’m happy to do it. For now, I’m just doing it for show. I feel like there is.”

Frustrated by the lack of urgency regarding border security, my brother retired from the military and started a business instead.

new institutions to enforce new laws;

This is not the way a country takes its future seriously. It’s national suicide. I love America and I’m raising my five children to love America too. But those who have come to live on our free handouts do not love her. I worry that my children will grow up in a country with laws that privilege those who ignore them. By privileging Third World immigrants over Texans, we are slowly turning Texas into the Third World.

Kyle Sims, a child advocate and conservative activist in my district, has seen firsthand the slums in our area.

“Most of the children brought across the border are trafficked by cartels,” he told me. “shepherd’s watch foundationNonprofits that fight human trafficking measured the impact of their arrival in Grayson County. There, 150 online “escort” sites and six brick-and-mortar brothels have sprung up. Adjacent Collin County has even more establishments, including massage parlors, RV parks, and Air B&Bs serving sex work clients. ”

If we don’t stop mass immigration now, Texas will become like the Third World. Electing a Republican president is only a temporary solution. The next Democrat will simply repeat the Biden crisis all over again. That’s their goal. Texas needs a comprehensive border plan from Texas to permanently protect our state.

Last year, Texas Rep. Matt Schaefer (R) proposed just such a plan, the Border Patrol Act. His bill would create a new law enforcement agency with personnel who could stop border crossers from violating the law, including erecting barriers, arresting and detaining them, and sending them for deportation.

With the recent passage of Senate Bill 4 granting Texas law enforcement the authority to arrest illegal border crossers, now is the time for Border Patrol to give Texas the weapons it needs to take full advantage of the law. It is.

Mr. Schaefer has since retired, but his bill should be revived as a partnership between law enforcement and the National Guard, combined with legislation that would allow officials and employers to verify citizenship. Illegal immigrants should not be given immunity from prosecution or a free pass if they are detained. Liberal “hospitality” sends the wrong message and has dehumanizing consequences.

This is an election year, and Joe Biden has every incentive to stem the flow of illegal immigration, yet his border crisis still outstrips Texas’ ability to respond. If a Democrat is still president after November, things will get even worse. I’m asking voters to send me to Austin to deliver true border security for Texas, no matter who sits in the White House. I’m going to do whatever it takes to prevent Texas from becoming part of the Third World – and I know the majority of Texans will stand with me.
