Corey Lewandowski’s Short Stint as Special Employee
Corey Lewandowski has logged only 69 days as a special employee under Homeland Security Secretary Christie Noem.
At 51, Lewandowski has been acting as Noem’s chief of staff since late January, which has led to speculation that he may have overstayed beyond what should have been his tenure, swiping in with his colleague’s badge.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed to the Post that Trump’s former campaign manager counted only 69 working days, aligning with earlier reports.
“Lewandowski’s hours are tracked by career DHS staff who file necessary paperwork biweekly,” the department said.
In terms of his role, White House officials focused on the significant drop in illegal immigration under Noem and Lewandowski’s oversight.
Both Noem and Lewandowski were involved in an immigration raid in Phoenix back in early April.
They are also set to attend meetings in Costa Rica and Guatemala later this month.
“The profound impacts from the Department of Homeland Security are evident—our borders are safer, American communities are protected, and there has been a concerted effort to deport criminal illegal aliens,” Noem stated.
Interestingly, Lewandowski was reportedly overlooked for the permanent DHS chief position due to widespread rumors of an inappropriate relationship with Noem, even though both are married and have publicly denied any wrongdoing.
Throughout the year, they’ve traveled extensively for official duties, hitting spots like Argentina, Bahrain, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Poland, and Italy.
