Beach Day for WNBA Players

Sophie Cunningham and Lexi Hull, who like to call themselves the “mermaids of the Indiana Fever,” took a break on a California beach on Monday for some much-needed downtime. It’s no surprise they jumped at the chance for a leisurely bikini vacation. After all, they aren’t shy about enjoying life off the court.

Even their superstar teammate, Caitlin Clark, tried to chip in with some advice, urging them to focus less on sunbathing and more on basketball. She, however, wasn’t able to sway them. Cunningham and Hull made it clear that they can balance fun and their responsibilities as athletes.

With a break before facing off against the Los Angeles Sparks later this week, they enjoyed their day in the sun, soaking up some rays while preparing content for social media. And, let’s be honest—working on their tans might just give them an edge before hitting the game. Isn’t that part of the athlete lifestyle these days?

I think this little getaway was a solid success. After all, as Clark remarked last spring, it’s entirely possible to be dedicated to your sport and still get a sunburn. That’s just how it is, right?

Cunningham and Hull certainly seem to get that. They continue to tune out the noise from critics, and honestly, why wouldn’t they? It appears to be working just fine for them.

As for their season, they are making strides on a team that currently sits at 12-8, just behind the leaders in the WNBA standings. Plus, let’s remember: “Look good, feel good. Feel good, play good.” That’s a mantra that seems oh-so-relevant in the game today.
