LGBT Activist Group Begins Tour in Mostly Conservative States During Trump Administration's DEI Restrictions

Human Rights Campaign Launches Nationwide Tour

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, revealed plans on Monday to tour primarily in states that supported President Donald Trump, with the intent of amplifying LGBTQ+ voices.

The tour, dubbed the “American Dreams Tour: Equality Avers America,” aims to spotlight stories within red and purple states. Its goals include discussing the realities of HIV, healthcare within the community, and promoting a stronger push for equality. This initiative kicks off Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, extending to several other states like Georgia, Nevada, Tennessee, and Texas.

“The American Dream isn’t exclusive,” said a spokesperson. “It has been shaped by those who dared to demand more—by Black individuals fighting for freedom, and by LGBTQ+ individuals who refuse to be silenced. Each time our history faced attempts at erasure, we built something more resilient, embracing our stories and truths.”

“This tour is about reclaiming that legacy. We’re visiting places where challenges exist, and hope is emerging,” another representative noted. “We aim to remind communities that they too are part of the American dream.”

The announcement arrives as the Trump administration intensifies scrutiny over gender ideology, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

“While our previous strategies involving legal avenues and electoral victories have been significant, we must now broaden support, reshape the narrative, and cultivate a visible community advocating for LGBTQ+ equality,” the spokesperson stressed.

Since 2002, HRC has published its Corporate Equality Index (CEI), which evaluates companies based on their policies and support for LGBTQ+ employees.

The HRC did not respond promptly to requests for additional comments.
