Lin-Manuel Miranda to Host Virtual Fundraiser for Jon Ossoff

Lin-Manuel Miranda, renowned for creating the musical Hamilton, is set to host a virtual fundraiser on May 7th in support of Senator Jon Ossoff’s re-election efforts.

The event promises special performances from artists such as Sara Bareilles, Betty Buckley, Roseanne Cash, and Alan Menken, among others. Jason Alexander and Rep. Sarah McBride also have appearances lined up.

Tickets for the fundraiser begin at $25, and the producers behind the event include James Lapine, Victor Sloan, and Brian Cassins.

Senator Ossoff is currently in one of the fiercest Senate races this term, facing challenges from three Republicans: Derek Dooley, Rep. Mike Collins, and Rep. Buddy Carter. The primary is scheduled for May 19th, and the Cook Political Report categorizes this contest as ‘Lean D.’

Miranda is known for his support of progressive causes. During the 2024 election cycle, he co-hosted a fundraiser where tickets went for $25,000 each for then-Vice President Kamala Harris. He had previously canceled a performance of Hamilton at the Kennedy Center, expressing concerns that President Trump had “politicized” arts institutions. Interestingly, Miranda is also planning his 10th wedding anniversary this summer, which adds a personal touch to this busy period. The fundraiser is expected to generate substantial funds for organizations advocating for undocumented immigrants.
