TAMPA, Fla. — Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) criticized as a “Democrat doll” by Andre Bauer
Former South Carolina Lt. Colonel Andre Bauer, who is challenging Senator Lindsey Graham, made some striking comments recently at the Turning Point’s Student Action Summit. He argued that Graham, a four-term senator, embodies the limitations of traditional Republican politics, particularly in relation to President Donald Trump’s agenda.
Bauer highlighted their differences, pointing out that Graham has been in politics since 1994. He remarked, “He was there when Moby Dick was a minnow. I’m a strong advocate for term limits; when I campaigned for a House seat, I promised myself three terms and then exit. I served one term before moving to the Senate for just a semester, and afterward, I became Lieutenant Governor for two terms.”
He expressed frustration with Graham’s record, suggesting that the senator spends more time focused on international issues than on the needs of South Carolinians. “It feels like he’s been more present in Ukraine lately than in South Carolina over the last three decades,” Bauer stated. He emphasized the desire for local improvements, saying, “We want to see real efforts on border protection and funding directed toward our state’s concerns. For instance, USAID recently doled out $100 million, which impacts us as taxpayers. It’s disheartening to feel our needs are overlooked.”
When asked about garnering support from Trump, Bauer reminded everyone he was among the first to back Trump’s run in 2016, and he had supported Graham’s reelection at that time. Trump later appointed him as an ambassador to Belize.
Bauer shared, “During the reelection campaign, I was on stage with Graham, and Trump praised me, suggesting I could run for anything and have success. People seemed to respond positively.”
He then described the political landscape as a swamp, advocating that it demands true conservatives who have a consistent pro-conservative record rather than those who shift positions. “Graham isn’t a genuine partner, which makes it easy for voters to keep him in office,” he concluded.
Bauer confidently stated, “We have a solid chance to unseat one of the Senate’s entrenched figures. This is poised to be a significant year for Trump… once Tom Tillis is out, McConnell will fade as well.”
He didn’t hold back, asserting, “The biggest creature in this swamp is Lindsey Graham. He’s on record saying that Joe Biden is among the best people he’s ever met. This is the same individual who supported Hillary Clinton, John Kelly, and Sotomayor. He’s clearly not prioritizing our interests. He’s just a puppet for the Democrats.”
