Lisa Marie Presley ‘had a sense’ Elvis would die the night before his passing, daughter Riley Keough says

Elvis Presley's granddaughter Riley Keough has revealed new details about her late mother Lisa Marie Presley's recollections of the rock icon's death.

The “Lights Out” singer was an only child with wife Priscilla Presley, who welcomed him in February 1968. Lisa Marie was staying with her father at their Graceland mansion when he suddenly died of a heart attack at the age of 42. August 16, 1977.

Keough recently spoke with Oprah Winfrey about Lisa Marie's upcoming memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown. The “Daisy Jones and the Six” actress helped complete the book after her mother passed away unexpectedly in January 2023.

In a clip from the special, Keogh, 35, explained that he felt eerie when Lisa Marie said goodnight to Elvis for the last time.

“The morning of Elvis' death, your mother woke up and instinctively knew something was wrong,” Winfrey tells Keough at the beginning of the clip. “Do you want to talk about it? She's nine years old, but most of us remember when we were nine.”

“Yes, certainly,” Keogh replied. “I think this is the first time she talks about his death in detail in a book.

“She said goodnight to him, and I think she knew the word ‘goodnight.’ She had a certain sense.

“I think she felt many times that he wasn't okay,” Keogh added. “She told me that sometimes she would find him in the bathroom looking a little listless, or holding on to the railing trying to stand up straight.

“And she used to write letters like this when she was little, which we all do, like, 'I hope Daddy doesn't die,'” says little Lisa.・While a handwritten letter written by Marie was on display, she spoke to Winfrey.

The letter said, “I love you, Mom and Dad, and I hope you never die.”

“So there was some kind of meaning to it,” Keogh said.

Winfrey noted that there seems to be “a lot of turmoil going on all the time” at Graceland.

“Certainly,” agreed Mr. Keogh. “But it was just her and her father upstairs. I think she spent a lot of intimate time with her father there. There was no one else there.”

In another clip from the interview, she recalls that while growing up, Lisa Marie found out how difficult it was to deal with Elvis' death.

“Sometimes I would see her sitting and listening to her father sing, reading a book and crying,” Winfrey said.

“Well, I think her grief was very similar. I think she didn't know how to process it, and it was a very private thing for her,” Keogh said. spoke. “She was listening to his music alone when she got drunk and cried.”

The special will be Keogh's first major media interview since his mother's death. Lisa Marie, who had son Benjamin with her ex-husband Danny Keough, passed away on February 12, 2023 at the age of 54 due to a small intestine obstruction.
