Howie Mandel’s Apology to Kelly Ripa Sparks Reactions
The executive producer of “Live with Kelly and Mark,” Michael Gellman, is contemplating whether Howie Mandel should issue an apology for declining to accept a compliment regarding aging.
During a March 23 episode, Mandel remarked that telling someone they “look great” for their age “doesn’t mean anything.” Following the show’s airing, he released a video on social media where he publicly apologized to Ripa.
Gellman addressed Mandel’s video and the ongoing situation, stating, “In these divisive times, one thing we can all agree on is that you look absolutely amazing for your age.”

Others have also expressed their thoughts. Comedian Tom Version commented on the transition to self-acceptance, calling it the “smoothest” he had seen, reminiscent of those reflective moments in front of the mirror.
Terry Crews added, “It’s a shame because he looks so nice.” Meanwhile, Stephen Baldwin remarked that Ripa embodies youth and beauty, suggesting she has nothing to apologize for while emphasizing that vanity often comes too late.
In the video, Mandel shared his hesitation about posting an apology, revealing he didn’t usually apologize for his jokes. However, he noted that Ripa has been a supportive figure throughout the years. “When I go on a show, I just try to be funny. But as a comedian, sometimes things don’t go your way,” he said.
Many were curious about his thoughts on the compliment. At the end of his message, he asserted, “After much thought and introspection, I look good for my age.” It seemed like a mix of reflecting on the situation and affirming his self-image.
