Live updates: Hegseth defends Signal use on 'Fox and Friends'; IMF slashes US growth forecast

Defense Secretary Pete Hegses defended himself after visiting “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning to reveal that the report shared information in a second signal group chat with his family and his personal lawyer.

The defense chief returned to the spotlight following a report from the New York Times on Sunday that he shared the attack plan on the signal chat, which includes his wife, brothers and lawyers, including others involved in Hegses’ personal and professional life.

“The disgruntled former employee is pitching things to try and save the butt. Ultimately, that doesn’t work,” Heggs told Brian Kilmeade on Fox News.

The latest Hegseth heartburn is among the worse economic news.

The IMF has reduced its forecast for global gross domestic product (GDP) growth for 2025 from its January forecast of 3.3%.

The US growth forecast marked growth of 1.8% from 2.7%, while expectations for production of developed economies have been reduced from 1.9% to 1.4%.

Markdown reflects “customer tariff rates and a very unpredictable environment for levels not seen in the first century,” IMF economists said.

The Trump administration has also been caught up in a legal battle with Harvard, who rejected the administration’s request to change policies and lost more than $2 billion in federal funds. Harvard sued the loss of funds on Monday.
