Olivia “Livi” Dunn is already preparing for the upcoming gymnastics season.
The LSU star gymnast and social media sensation recently announced that she will be returning for her fifth and final year of eligibility with the Tigers, sharing a video. In Instagram Stories On Thursday, she showed off her balance beam skills, even doing a somersault and landing successfully.
“Summer fun!” Dan captioned the video, which ends with her striking a silly pose.
Dan, who boasts more than 13 million followers across Instagram and TikTok, announced his return to the show earlier this month in a social media video captioned “Not Dan yet.”
“My life has changed these last four years and putting on that purple and gold leotard is something special,” Dunn began. “And no matter how many opportunities you have off the mat, there’s something special about LSU. So I’m saying I’m not done yet.”
“Good luck with your fifth year.”
The news comes as a huge shock, as the 21-year-old had previously ruled out competing in the Olympics and told The Washington Post in an exclusive interview that she was weighing the future of her gymnastics career.
“I once competed for the U.S. team, but I closed that chapter and went to Louisiana State University, so I don’t think I’ll be aiming for the Olympics or anything beyond that,” she said on July 1.
“A national championship, that was obviously the ultimate goal,” she added. “It was the best thing that happened to me my final year of high school. I’m really happy that we were able to make history together as a team.”
Dunn helped lead the LSU program to its first NCAA championship in April.
The Lady Tigers defeated California, Utah and Florida at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, to take the championship with a final score of 198.2250.
The team earned an NCAA championship record score of 49.7625 on the balance beam, the highest score in LSU gymnastics history.
Between multiple trips to Pittsburgh to support her boyfriend, Pirates superstar rookie pitcher Paul Skenes, a trip to the Hamptons for Michael Rubin’s annual Fourth of July White Party, a family trip to Cabo, and attending the SI Swimsuit launch party in May, Dan has had a pretty “fun” summer.
