Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) told reporters Thursday that Liz Cheney “doesn't deserve” a pardon or award from President Joe Biden.
The award came after House Republicans accused Cheney of tampering with “at least one” witness on a partisan committee and recommended that the FBI investigate the matter.
President-elect Donald Trump also accused partisan committee members of suppressing evidence from the committee that claimed he was innocent.
Democrats have called on Biden to grant pre-emptive pardons to Cheney and other members of the Jan. 6 committee, similar to what he already did to his son Hunter Biden, who have been in prison since January 2014. It has blocked federal prosecution for crimes he may have committed over an 11-year period.
Mr. Cheney believes he should not go to prison for his alleged wrongdoing.
“President Biden either pardoned Liz Cheney or gave her an award. She doesn't deserve it either. She represents partisanship and division, not Wyoming.” Barrasso said.
