Ilhan Omar Faces Allegations Related to Immigration and Marriage
Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, has been embroiled in numerous ongoing accusations regarding her immigration status, citizenship, and her marriage to a former spouse who is rumored to be her brother.
During a segment, BlazeTV host Liz Wheeler delves into the allegations that might be of interest to the Trump administration, starting with the first claim.
The first accusation posits that Omar’s father, Nur Omar Mohamed, misrepresented his asylum application, arguing he sought refuge in the U.S. through a program meant for Somalis escaping the violent Siad Barre regime. However, Wheeler states that Mohamed also allegedly failed to mention that he was, in fact, a member of that very regime, serving as a colonel likely specializing in propaganda.
This, Wheeler notes, would have invalidated his asylum claim since it implies he was part of the regime he claimed to be fleeing.
Next, the second allegation asserts that Omar might have falsified her birthdate on an official document. If true, this accusation falls squarely on her, not her father, constituting a potential crime involving false statements or fraud related to immigration paperwork.
The third allegation explores the notion that if Omar’s father wasn’t naturalized, then she couldn’t have derived her citizenship from him, a claim she has made. If he hadn’t been naturalized, then her assertion would be false, raising questions of illegal procurement of citizenship.
The final and perhaps oddest allegation is that Omar married her brother in order to secure a green card for him. Wheeler suggests federal investigators may be probing this, especially since they have officially obtained her DNA, likely to compare it to that of Ahmed Elmi, her second husband, who is alleged to be her brother.
