Lizzo announces that she’s quitting music after facing online criticism: ‘I didn’t sign up for this’

Lizzo appears to have quit music.

On Friday, the “Truth Hurts” singer shared an emotional message on Instagram, announcing that he was stepping away from the industry after years of facing online criticism.

“I’m tired of letting everyone drag me down in life and on the internet,” Lizzo wrote. “All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little bit better than it was when I met it. I’m starting to feel like I don’t want that.”

“I am constantly fighting back against the lies that are told about me in the quest for influence and fame…I am constantly the butt of jokes because of my appearance…I am discriminated against by people who don’t know my personality…I am constantly confronted by the lies that are told about me in search of influence and recognition… It’s disrespected,” she continued.

“I didn’t sign up for this—” she added. “I quit.”

The message comes eight months after the singer was accused of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment in a lawsuit filed by three former backup dancers.

Daniels’ attorney, Ronald Zambrano, said: “Lizzo is the boss, so she is responsible.
