Lizzo blasts Trump’s Detroit swipe at Harris rally: ‘I’m proud to be from this city’

Renowned singer-songwriter Lizzo joined Vice President Harris at a Saturday rally in Detroit, emphasizing her love for the city and slamming former President Trump's negative comments about the city.

“I'm so proud to be from this city,” Lizzo, a Detroit native, told the crowd.

“You're saying that if Kamala Harris wins, the whole country will be like Detroit? Proud like Detroit. Resilient like Detroit,” she continued. “We're talking about the same Detroit that revolutionized the auto industry and the music industry, so give the Detroit name some respect!”

The remarks came after President Trump compared the city to a “developing country” during a campaign event at the Detroit Economic Club last Thursday.

“If she were your president, our entire country would be like Detroit. It would be crazy,” Trump said of Harris on October 10.

Since then, the Harris Walz team has launched a counterattack with an ad blitz and additional stops in the city to capture voters who may have been offended by the Republican candidate's comments.

During Saturday's rally in the Motor City, Harris took to the stage wearing “.”Detroit vs Everybody“She wears a T-shirt under her usual blazer.

“Who has the capital to make records?” Harris told the rally. “We're going to break some records today here in Detroit.”

The Democratic candidate encouraged voters to vote in his favor by November 5th. Early voting in Michigan begins October 26th.

According to Decision Desk Headquarters, The Hill's in-house polling site, Trump has a 0.4 percentage point lead over Harris in the Great Lakes state.

After Harris' star-studded rally in Michigan, she flew to Georgia to campaign with Atlanta singer Usher.
