Lizzo references Sydney Sweeney in new song about American Eagle jeans situation

Singer Lizzo is taking a light-hearted jab at Sydney Sweeney’s character, Jean Fasco, in response to significant backlash against recent American Eagle campaign ads.

The Grammy-winning artist has incorporated the “Euphoria” star into her latest track, titled “I’m Goin’ In Till October,” which she shared with her Instagram followers on Wednesday.

In a clip promoting the song, the singer sported snug denim shorts while acknowledging the controversy surrounding the actress’s ads, which some critics labeled as reminiscent of Nazi propaganda.

“No, Kizzy / He’s not in business with me,” Lizzo raps, adding, “My fat ass is pretty faced on T-Ties/Bitch. I got some good jeans like Sydney.”

“I’ll be in by October,” she captioned the teaser.

In the video, Lizzo flaunted a long, platinum blonde wig as she approached a red Porsche.

Sweeney has faced scrutiny since her appearance in the American Eagle ads promoting the brand’s fall denim line.

Her involvement ignited a heated reaction on social media, related to the phrase “Great Jeans,” which some interpreted as having racial connotations.

This ad has sparked an intense public discussion, especially regarding the interpretation of the phrase “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”

In light of the controversy, American Eagle released a statement defending their creative decisions.

“This campaign has always been about jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We will continue to celebrate the unique way that everyone can wear AE jeans with confidence,” the company stated. “Amazing jeans will flatter everyone.”

They emphasized that the focus is strictly on fashion and not any broader implications.

The “White Lotus” actress has remained quiet throughout this debate.

Interestingly, the ad found unexpected approval from former President Trump, who described it as “fantastic” after discovering that Sweeney is a registered Republican.

“Yeah, now I adore her ads… If Sydney Sweeney is registered, then her ads are great,” he remarked over the weekend.
