Not only did Zariel Macchia win in court, she conquered the truck.
The William Floyd High School track star won his seventh Career New York State Championship at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island on Saturday.
The BYU-bound star, who won the eligible fight earlier this week, sparkled on her opportunity, winning the 3,000m for her second career indoor track state title in the 9:21.73 hour period.
In addition to her victory at 3,000, Olympic hopefuls also ran the anchor leg of the cross-relay in Suffolk, leading William Floyd to the victory at 10:02.06.
She also finished third in the women's 1,000m individual run.
McKiar's victory came after he was initially deemed ineligible for the rest of the indoor season for violating the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's “college rules” when he ran against 45 college athletes at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Senior and her family filed a lawsuit against the NYSPHSAA this week. Macchia has recovered.
After a two-day emergency hearing, Judge Christopher Modelski ultimately allowed Macchia to participate in the championship.
Modelewski has determined that Nysphsaa “should be allowed” Macchia to attend this weekend's event.
“It was relieved at first,” Mackia told the Post after the court ruled in her favor earlier this week. “It's definitely a lot of motivation to compete on Saturdays just because I know there are a lot of people who want to see me go well.”
