Over the weekend, Laura Rumer, a vocal supporter of President Trump, expressed her strong feelings about the White House’s impending acceptance of a $400 million Boeing Jet from the Qatari government.
“I love President Trump. I’d take a bullet for him,” she posted on Social Platform X.
“If this is true, it would be quite a disgrace for the administration,” Rumer added, clearly frustrated.
“I’m really disappointed.”
Trump confirmed that the Qatari royal family intends to donate the Boeing 747-8 to the Department of Defense, with plans to update the aging Air Force fleet. According to initial reports, this aircraft will eventually be moved to Trump’s Presidential Library when he takes office. An official announcement regarding the gift is expected this week during Trump’s visit to the Middle East.
Rumer, who has faced criticism in the past for her anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim comments, denounced this arrangement as problematic. She mentioned concerns about designating the Muslim Brotherhood as a “terrorist organization.”
“It won’t be easy for the administration to label the Muslim Brotherhood and deal with Iranian influence through Hamas and Hezbollah. Qatar has the most powerful lobby in DC. We’re witnessing significant shifts in our country right now.”
Democrats have voiced concerns that accepting gifts like this could violate the Constitution’s emoluments clause, which prohibits public officials from receiving valuables from foreign entities.
“Gifts that are put in the library after four years still count as gifts,” a Democratic representative remarked on Sunday.
In response, Trump defended the move during his posts on True Social, labeling his detractors as “crooked Democrats” and “world-class losers.”
“So, the Pentagon accepting a 747 aircraft as a temporary replacement for the outdated Air Force One, in such a transparent way, will frustrate the crooked Democrats who want the planes to be funded instead,” he stated.
During a Monday appearance on Fox News, White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt discussed the jumbo jet donation, though she mentioned that details were still being finalized. “The Qatar government has graciously offered this donation to the Pentagon, and we are committed to complying with all legal requirements,” she explained.
Despite this, Rumer has had her differences with Trump before. Recently, she gained some notoriety for her interactions with national security officials following a meeting with the president in early April.
Last fall, when discussing her political role, Trump described her as a “supporter” and noted, “I don’t control Laura. She’s a free spirit.”
Responding to a follower’s question on Social Platform X about why she wasn’t working in the White House, Rumer attributed this to staff decisions that blocked her from various roles. “The president has tried to hire me four times. Each time, his staff prevented it,” she wrote.
