Loradana Paletta from Syosset prepares for her dream debut with the US national team

Long Island is garnering attention with its latest standout talent.

Loradana Paletta, a young soccer prodigy from Syosset, signed a NIL contract at just 14 years old. She is gearing up to make her debut with the U.S. Under-17 national team this week, showcasing her skills on a bigger stage. “When I was younger, I always dreamed of being on the national team,” Paletta shared right before her involvement in a tournament against Mexico, Costa Rica, and Canada, which kicks off this Saturday in Mexico City.

Paletta aims to secure a spot for the upcoming U-17 World Cup, with aspirations extending even further toward the senior World Cup. “That’s definitely a long-term goal,” she stated proudly.

In the Spotlight

Being the youngest player on the team and only recently called up, Paletta has been part of the National U-16 squad for about a year and has been thriving among her peers.

“I’m trying to stay humble. I’m not one to brag,” said the ninth grader at Syosset High School. “I talk to my close friends about it, but I don’t really tell anyone else.” It seems her story is resonating widely, not just among teenagers in her area. Paletta has made headlines by becoming the first American athlete, whether professional or amateur, to secure a contract with the luxury Italian brand Loto.

Leading up to her announcement in mid-July, hype videos flooded social media, and she received congratulations from many in the soccer community. With her colorful Lotto cleats, she even expressed interest in designing her own footwear in the future.

“While I want to learn about the business side of things, right now, my focus is on my game,” she commented.

Girl Power

Interestingly, Paletta mentioned she hasn’t felt pressured to prove herself against older, more established soccer players. “My dad always had me play with boys, which pushed me to be better,” she explained.

“Having that competitive edge has definitely made me stronger,” she added. With the encouragement from her father and siblings—17-year-old Gianluca and 15-year-old Leonardo—Paletta feels empowered. “They push me to be a better version of myself. I strive to lead by example,” she noted, mentioning her younger sister, five-year-old Luvisa.

“They really motivate me, especially in soccer. Whenever I need support, they’ve got my back on the field,” Paletta expressed.

The family dynamic has worked wonders, giving her ample opportunities to thrive, even allowing her to play with boys at an impressive level. Alongside her commitment to Team USA, Paletta also plays for NYCFC’s Boys U-14 Academy, matching up with her brother Leonardo, who plays for the U-18 team.

“My family is my greatest source of support. They truly connect with my journey,” she remarked.

As she prepares for the future World Cup, Paletta is determined to perform at her best. “I’ll give it my all because I don’t want to let anyone down,” she shared, emphasizing her dedication.

Ultimately, Paletta wants to stay true to herself. “Soccer brings me joy and love. It’s the sport I’m passionate about,” she concluded.
