The Los Angeles Kings held an Armenian night last week, causing a public relations disaster.
The Los Angeles area is home to the largest Armenian community outside of Armenia, so the team paid tribute to the Armenians in the area.
Fans who participated in the match against the Utah Hockey Club on February 22 received an Armenian scarf.
The scarf was made in Türkiye.

Neighboring countries are historic enemies attributed to the deaths of 1.5 million Armenians in genocide, deportation and forced marching that began in Ottoman Turkey in 1915. Historians see this event widely as a genocide, but Turkey rejects the concept.
After hearing the criticism, the king apologises.

“We source, stock and sell products from a selection list of manufacturers officially licensed by the league. We were unaware of the production origins of the items.”
