Bank Robbery with a Twist in Louisiana

In a strange turn of events, police in Louisiana are on the hunt for a man who staged a bank heist in a rather peculiar manner. The suspect, who entered a Fidelity Bank branch in Slidell, New Orleans, was seen on surveillance footage using a cane and wearing a neck brace. He appeared to be injured as he approached the teller.

Once inside, he handed the teller a note, then quickly stuffed cash into a fanny pack before making his exit—this time without the cane and with no limp at all.

According to law enforcement, the incident took place on Friday, November 7, just before 4 p.m. The suspect allegedly shouted “robber” while demanding cash, then fled the scene on foot, seemingly fit and fine.

Interestingly, the Slidell Police stated that his appearance raised immediate suspicions among bank staff. A spokesperson noted, “He came in with red flags just because of his appearance. His outfit was unusual, complete with a neck brace and a cane, which didn’t seem right to us.”

This odd disguise might have been part of his plan, as he spent several minutes in the bank waiting for other customers to leave. When the time was right, he handed a note to the teller, who barely had time to react. “This is a robbery!” the teller reportedly yelled, sounding like something out of a movie.

In hindsight, it’s fortunate that no one was harmed during the ordeal, though employees were understandably shaken. “They were quite scared, but thankfully, he didn’t cause any harm,” the spokesperson mentioned.

The police investigation has revealed that bank robberies are becoming rare, but the audacity of this particular incident stood out. “We deal with bank robberies frequently,” the spokesperson commented. “But every now and then, someone comes along with a scheme as elaborate as this one. It’s remarkable how he managed to act injured and then just walk away without any signs of it.”

When the video ends, it shows him sprinting across the parking lot, clearly no longer limping.

Authorities, together with a K-9 unit, searched the vicinity but suspect that he may have escaped in a vehicle. The man is described as a black male dressed in a gray tracksuit, bucket hat, neck brace, and face mask.

Police are requesting anyone who might recognize him or who may have captured his image on home security cameras along Choctaw Drive to reach out to the Slidell Police Department. They remain hopeful of new leads to bring this unusual case to a close.
