Louisiana: Fourth escaped prisoner caught in New Orleans, 6 remain at large

Fugitive Inmate Recaptured in Louisiana

Gary C. Price, one of the ten inmates who escaped from the Orleans Judicial Center last Friday, has been recaptured. Six others remain at large.

On Monday, the Louisiana State Police reported that Price, who is 21 years old, was apprehended. He was found in an abandoned home located on Good Drive.

In addition to his escape, Price was already wanted for an alleged attempted first-degree murder charge.

Of the ten inmates who fled, three—Kendall Miles, Doken Dennis, and Robert Moody—were captured within 24 hours of the breakout.

On Saturday morning, state police transported three of the inmates back from New Orleans via helicopter to what was described as a “safe correctional facility.”

Sheriff Susan Hutson noted there are indications that the escape may have had inside assistance, which has led to the suspension of three staff members as part of an ongoing internal investigation.

Hutson mentioned that the officer in charge of the inmates’ housing unit had left at the time of the escape, though she didn’t specify if it was premeditated. Reports suggest that the inmates were able to unlock their cell doors, remove a toilet from the wall, access the recreation yard, climb the fence, and cross a highway to flee.

Law enforcement at all levels—federal, state, and local—are currently conducting searches throughout the city for the remaining escapees.
