A utility worker in Louisiana suffered a serious incident when an 18-wheeler collided with him while he was working on traffic lights at a busy intersection.
The accident occurred as the truck exited I-12 onto Range Avenue, where a crew was handling maintenance on the traffic signal above the right lane.
“That’s part of the job when you’re in a bucket truck,” remarked Fred Rayford, the Transportation Director for East Baton Rouge Parish.
Fortunately, the worker sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization, as confirmed by police.
The driver of the semi-truck stated he was unaware of just how low the bucket was positioned on the street at the time of the accident.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation Development is now conducting an investigation, as the traffic lights are maintained by the state.
