Lowe’s Worker Allegedly Informed HR He Planned to Shoot a Coworker Before the Incident

Shooting Incident at Lowe’s

Employees at Lowe’s allegedly communicated with management and HR about intentions to shoot a coworker prior to the incident that occurred on June 14th.

A Lowe’s employee named Christopher Wasnetsky from Scranton, Pennsylvania, claimed to have emailed HR regarding Monday’s criminal charges. He indicated that he was planning to shoot Jeff Moeller, a colleague who accused him of harassment. Wasnetsky also mentioned that there was no incident involving his harassment claims.

Wasnetsky reportedly shot Moeller multiple times while he was working overnight at Lowe’s around 12:30 a.m. Authorities noted that Moeller was transported to Geisinger Community Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives analyzed security footage from the store, which confirmed the details of the shooting. The video reportedly showed Moeller operating a forklift when Wasnetsky shot him, leading him to fall to the ground and call for help.

According to reports, the Scranton Times-Tribune informed 911 about the shooting and identified Wasnetsky as the shooter. During an interview with police, Wasnetsky accused Moeller of harassment and mentioned having purchased a pistol for target practice in his backyard. He allegedly stated his intent to shoot Moeller while targeting him with the weapon.

Additionally, a Lowe’s manager told police that he had filed accusations of harassment against Moeller, which he claimed were unfounded. A spokesperson from Lowe’s expressed that Moeller’s murder—he was a husband and father of three—was a “meaningless act of violence.”

Reports state that Wasnetsky is being held in jail without bail and is set to appear at a preliminary hearing on June 30th. He faces charges of first and third-degree murder.
