The Loyola Chicago men's basketball team committed a cardinal basketball sin by failing to give Sister Jean a fist bump after Tuesday's win. On Thursday, it was time for them to atone for that grave mistake in hilarious fashion.
The controversy began after the Ramblers' 76-54 victory over Eastern Michigan. Cameras captured Loyola players coming off the floor, where they passed Sister Jean, the team's chaplain and a celebrity in college basketball. But at least two players didn't give Sister Jean a fist bump. The diss was caught on camera and outraged social media users spoke out.
The players will face the music, or more accurately the whistle, at Thursday's practice, and Sister Jean, equipped with a whistle, will impose sprints. And you better believe she ended up giving him a fist bump or a hug.
Now that the painful fist-pumping episode is over, the Ramblers can get back to what they do best: winning. Loyola is currently 7-0 on the young season and will play South Florida on Saturday.
Even if Sister Jean doesn't get the fist pump, it's safe to say that more sprints will follow.
