Ben's presence has become a regular part of Herb Streit's work with ESPN and Amazon, NFL teams and college athletic departments have created additional eligibility, and Ben snuck into the LSU-USC broadcast earlier this season. It even happened.

herbstreit Revealed on November 4th Ben received his second chemotherapy injection on October 23, but his condition worsened to the point where he could no longer use his back legs and had not eaten for three days.

Three days later, Herbstreit announced Ben's passing and posted a tribute to the dog she once called her best friend.

“Today we found out that the cancer had spread throughout Ben's organs, and there was nothing we could do. We had to let him go,” Herbstreit said. I wrote this in part in a post on November 7th. “I've had dogs all my life, and Ben was my one-on-one. He's smart, loving, gentle, patient, curious, and welcoming to everyone. He always had a big smile on his face and wagged his tail gently. He and I understood each other and supported each other more than anyone else at home. He was with me and traveled with me for work. He's a very easygoing companion.”
